We aim to offer a range of activities for visitors to Lesotho: this region is famous for its natural splendour, and hikers, mountain bikers, quad riders, and horseback riders will find many peaks and valleys to explore. There is a rich cultural history in the region as well: guided tours include: • trek to an ancient San cave decorated with rock art • village visits to traditional African rondavels • performances by local choirs and dance troupes.
Lumelang Guesthouse is nestled in the magnificent Drakensburg, or Maluti mountains of Lesotho, southern Africa. An oasis of peace and calm in the midst of wild nature, Lumelang combines comfortable but simple accommodation with the renouned hospitality of the Basotho people.
The guesthouse stands overlooking the Ha Makhata village, home of the Phelisanong project. Enjoy traditional village life while accommodated in a beautiful stone and thatch cottage, situated high on a hill overlooking a splendid river valley. We cater to Backpackers in single and double rooms, while our Youth Hostel style dormitories are perfect for groups and events. Camping is available for those seeking a more rustic adventure.
Lumelang is the perfect springboard from which to roam the Pitseng region of Lesotho. Guided or self-guided rides through river valleys or climbing to wide panoramas are a perfect way to experience Lesotho: on your own, as a family, or with a knowledgeable local guide.
Lesotho is often described as the Kingdom in the Sky. It is spectacularly beautiful: the highland mountain ranges offer awesome panoramas.
Waterfalls pour off of the steep slopes of the majestic Draknsburg range, while valleys dotted with traditional villages are reminiscent of Tolkien’s Shire.
The ever-changing qualities of the light are never to be forgotten: from the colors of sunrise drenching the cliffs in crimson and violet to the stars that stretch across the sky like wide open arms.
Lumelang, meaning “Welcome”, overlooks the Malutis, or the Drakensberg if you prefer — epic mountains rising to over 4,000 metres.
