The Phelisanong project grew up around the sheltering of disabled children. A pre-school and residence provides care for handicapped,
mentally disabled, and chronically ill children, many of whom have been abandoned or orphaned. Education, social
interaction, counselling and physical therapies encourage children to reach their full potential.

The Kits for KIDS program aims to find sponsors for the resident disabled children at Phelisanong so that their basic needs may be met. Funds will be used to pay caregivers, who have worked for 5 years as volunteers, small stipends so they can meet their basic needs, including supporting their own children. Funds will also be used to buy needed food, fuel, and supplies, including the building of a bathing facility to provide warm water washing to these children, who currently take cold baths every morning in the chilly mountain outdoors.

The Kits for KIDS fund provides blankets, soap, candles, firewood, and other essentials to help these children live in comfort. Additionally, funds raised will go towards workshops and training for special needs caregivers and education assistants so they may help these children reach their full potential.

Interested sponsors are urged to download an application package. Sponsors sign on for a long-term commitment of $1 per day which can be paid to the project monthly or annually. Children are encouraged to communicate with their sponsors and send a back photos, artwork, and letters whenever possible. One-time donations are also warmly welcomed.
